The Human Copy Machine

Project organized by Lya Finston

Description

The Human Copy Machine is an interactive performance exploring uniformity and repetition, human error, and the role of the hand in the mechanical reproduction of multiples. One volunteer at a time will sit inside a large box, decorated to look like a giant copy machine. Participants will draw a simple image revolving around the conference theme, place it on the scanner, and choose how many copies they’d like. The person inside the machine will quickly reproduce the image as many times as the participant has requested, sliding finished copies through a slot to the outside of the machine.
